Frequently Asked Questions

  • Dry cleaning uses a liquid solution to safely clean your clothing without water. It can remove stains that water cannot, such as grease and oil, and is safe for fabrics that don’t respond well to water. Dry cleaning does not use mechanical movement or heat to clean your items. Though the dry cleaning method is gentler, the solutions it uses are far more powerful than laundry detergent and can more easily remove stains and blemishes.

  • When a garment care label says Machine Wash, dry cleaners use a process called Wet Cleaning - a very controlled process where cycle speed and temperatures are closely monitored. These items are then expertly pressed using a combination of steam and pressure. Wet Cleaning is different from laundry service.

  • Professional cleaning will extend the life of your garments. Our professional production staff always follows care instructions on garment tags. All clothing is carefully sorted according to the safest and most effective treatment methods.

  • Benzinger’s never uses bleach on clothing unless it is absolutely necessary and we are certain that it will not damage the garment.

  • Dry cleaning is proven to remove stains more effectively than washing machines. Unfortunately, some stains are permanent, and not even the best cleaning methods can remove them. If you notice a stain on your clothes, do not try to remove it yourself. Washing a stain or attempting to remove it with a home remedy can actually embed it further into the fabric and make it permanent. Quickly bring the item in question to us where our trained professionals will do their best to remove it.

  • Our production staff is highly efficient, and most items are ready with 48 to 72 hours. Need it sooner? We offer next business day service upon request! We can also provide same day service if your items are brought to our Hamburg location by 9 am on weekday mornings. Please note, an additional service fee is applied for next day and same day service.

Dry Cleaning and General Questions

  • We have delivery routes throughout the WNY area. If you live in the Derby area or near any of our four locations – Hamburg, Orchard Park, East Aurora, or Lancaster, chances are we’re in your neighborhood.

  • No, we provide sturdy bags for your clothing so you can leave them outside for convenient pick-up and delivery even when you aren’t at home.

  • Absolutely not. There is no minimum amount of dry cleaning, laundry, or household items needed to take advantage of our free pick-up and delivery service.

  • Our delivery routes run twice a week, on either Tuesdays or Fridays or on Mondays and Thursdays depending on location. You can use our delivery service as often or as little as you like. YOU set your schedule. Only need us once and awhile? That works too. You can schedule an on demand pick-up at any time via text or a phone call.

  • Please call or text us as soon as possible. We may be able to return later the same day; otherwise, we’ll schedule pickup during our next service day in your area.

Free On Demand Home & Office Delivery

  • We do. Our 5646 Camp Road location has seamstresses in-house that will provide FREE fittings every weekday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. We do encourage fittings to ensure accurate alterations.

  • Yes, if you pop into our Hamburg location for a fitting, no need to return to Hamburg to pick up your items. We can have them sent to any of our other locations for convenient in-store pick-up. Free delivery is also an option!

  • Standard repairs and alterations such as ripped seams, re-attaching hems, shortening, and replacing buttons can be completed in no more than 5 business days. More extensive repairs and alterations such as zipper replacement, repairs to heavy/down coats or household items, and extensive taking in of clothing will take slightly longer. As soon as your item is ready, you will receive a text message, so you never have to wonder or make an unnecessary trip to one of our stores.

Alterations & Repairs

Benzinger’s Laundry Club

  • Benzinger’s Laundry Club is a monthly subscription laundry service. Each plan include a set number of laundry bags per month. Any additional bags are billed at $19.99 per bag.

  • Unused bags do not roll over. If you need flexibility, our Single Bag subscription plan allows you to send additional bags at the same rate as higher-tier plans when needed.

  • Laundry Club plans are billed monthly starting on your signup date. A credit card must remain on file and can be updated online or by calling any location. On-Demand services are billed at pickup or delivery.

  • There is no contract or minimum commitment.

  • Yes, you may cancel at any time.

  • No. Laundry Club plans are based on the number of bags per month, which may be used at any time during the billing period.

  • Yes, plans can be changed at any time. Downgrades are credited, and upgrades are prorated.

  • Yes! We ask that all laundry be sent using the provided bags with the account holder’s information. Any additional bag charges will be applied to the card on file.

Personal Laundry Service

  • Benzinger’s Personal Laundry service will eliminate a dreaded chore from your to do list. This service is for clothing, sheets or towels that can be safely laundered. Your items are washed separately from other customers’ orders, then dried and neatly folded. There is no pressing or spot treating with our Personal Laundry Service, but we will match your socks!

  • Each Wash & Fold order is processed individually to ensure your items are kept together and handled with care. For this reason, we require a 10-lb minimum per order. Personal Laundry Service uses non-abrasive professional-grade soap, a warm water wash, and medium dryer heat. These washer and dryer settings are not recommended for all clothing. Our staff is trained to always follow care label instructions.

  • Casual, everyday wear that you would throw in your own washing machine and dryer are perfect. This would include t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants, casual pants, pajamas, socks, underwear, sheets, pillowcases, towels and washcloths.

  • Due to the methods used, some items cannot be safely cleaned using our Personal Laundry Service. You are always welcome to include any item with your order, but some may need to be processed as dry clean items which require a different cleaning fee. Comforters, blankets, quilts, duvet covers, pillows, dry clean only items per the care label, tablecloths, table runners, placemats, shoes, coats, rugs, bathmats, curtains, any specialty item, uniform items that require pressing or creases are not included as part of Personal Laundry Service.

  • Even though some items can be safely cleaned with water and then dried, pressing is not part of the Personal Laundry Service. For this reason, we do not recommend that men’s dress shirts, women’s dress blouses, dresses, skirts, line or hang dry items per the care label, or items requiring the removal of tough stains be included with your laundry items. We want you to be very happy with the results!

  • Personal Laundry Service is charged by weight, not by the number of items in your dirty laundry bag. There is a 10 lb. minimum charge no matter how much you send, so STUFF that bag!

  • All items are returned folded in a clean laundry bag. If a laundry bag is not provided with your order, a replacement bag will be added to your account for $9.95. This charge can be credited back when the bag is returned empty with your next order.

  • Wash & Fold uses standard laundering methods. Variations in fabric performance can occur, and customers assume responsibility for garments sent that may not be suitable for machine washing and drying.

  • Yes, however, for heavily soiled or stained items, we recommend using our dry-cleaning services so they can receive the appropriate level of attention. Please note that stain treatment is not included as part of our Wash & Fold service.

  • We use high-quality commercial detergents that are hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, providing effective cleaning while remaining gentle on fabrics.

  • Due to the type of commercial equipment and products used in our facility, we are unable to accept outside detergents or laundry additives.
