Benzinger’s Community Coat Challenge
Help us collect 300 coats for our community!
From September 1 through October 31, Benzinger’s Clothing Care is collecting new and gently used winter coats through our first Community Coat Challenge. Children’s winter coats in sizes 6 months through youth 14/16 are our greatest need, but all wearable coats are welcome.
Every donated coat will be professionally cleaned by Benzinger’s at no cost and distributed through local organizations to help individuals and families in our community stay warm this winter.
Coats can be dropped off at any Benzinger’s location or at the following participating local businesses:

Clothing Care Packages
Do you, or someone you know, have a child in need of clothing? We would be honored to help. We offer free clothing care packages for children in need, thoughtfully prepared from donated items. Each package includes 5–7 items* selected by our team and is available for pickup at any of our locations. Requests are confidential and completely free.
Caring for Our Community
At Benzinger’s Clothing Care, we believe that every child deserves to feel comfortable and confident. That’s why we launched Benzinger’s Clothing Closet, a new community initiative focused on collecting, cleaning, and giving away children’s clothing, all at no cost. Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors, we’ve been able to build a growing collection of quality items, from everyday essentials to special pieces, all ready to find new homes with local families.
Through our community partnerships, we use our professional clothing-care services to help donated garments reach local neighbors clean, refreshed, and ready to wear. We partnered with 2 Danes & Co. to professionally clean donated gowns for a local prom dress drive, and since 2023, we’ve provided complimentary cleaning and pressing for UB’s Hired program for students. We also host Summer Free Fridays, have donated clothing to Buffalo Public Schools, and support a variety of local organizations serving families throughout Western New York.

We’re proud to partner with local consignment shops: Southtowns Kids Consignment, Best Dressed Kids by Mary LLC and Once Upon A Child Blasdell. These local businesses also share our mission of giving clothing a second life and serving families in need. Their generous donations have helped expand the reach of our Clothing Closet and increased the number of people we can assist. We are incredibly grateful for all of the support.

Caring for Clothes & Our Planet
Sustainability starts with caring for what we already own. Professional cleaning can extend the life of a garment, while Benzinger’s Clothing Closet helps quality donated pieces find new homes. By restoring and reusing clothing that might otherwise be discarded, we help reduce textile waste and give each item new life and purpose.
Along with donations, we also accept unwanted textiles for recycling, giving clothing and household fabrics that can no longer be worn or reused a more responsible next step and helping keep textiles out of landfills.
How You Can Help
We are always accepting gently used children's clothing donations.
If your kids have outgrown their clothes, donate them to any of our locations! We'll take care of the cleaning, all you have to do is drop them off. Whether you’re donating, spreading the word, or picking up clothes for your own family, you're helping make our community stronger, more connected, and more compassionate.
